Five ozocerite samples. All are pitch black with a dull and waxy luster. These have the appearance of melted plastic or solidified tar. Photogenically challenged, but uncommon material. Mindat describes this species as "A naturally-occurring odoriferous mineral wax or paraffin. Chemically, ozocerite consists of a mixture of various hydrocarbons, mostly alkanes [having carbon chains of n = 20 to 40 atoms]: CnH2n+2..."
