43849: Vanadinite and Goethite - $12 Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province, DrĂ¢a-Tafilalet Region, Morocco Small cabinet - 8.4 x 4.7 x 4.0 cm 227 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order Dull, red vanadinite crystals, tabular
and reaching 4 mm, abundant on a limonite/goethite matrix.
That the metallic mineral is goethite and not a manganese
hydroxide/oxide (often pyrolusite) is confirmed by lack of
reaction with 12% hydrogen peroxide solution. (Pyrolusite
gives vigorous effervescence with this reagent.) The brown
streak is further verification.
