This specimen began as a bar-shaped crystal of pyrite which has been replaced by goethite. It is unusual for its shape as well as its size. The precise locality is not listed at Mindat, but is described on the previous owner's collection card as '...is not part of Crystal Ridge proper, but a larger quartz collecting area in the Inyo Mountains". The card further records that the specimen was collected in 2010. Very nice condition (for what it is) and self standing for display.
