00764: Gypsum - $40 Kadamzhay Mine, Kadamzhay ore field, Batken Region, Kyrgyzstan Small cabinet - 7.7 x 5.4 x 4.3 cm 112 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A 6.3 cm, twinned gypsum crystal
having good clarity sits atop a rock matrix, accented by
several smaller discoid gypsum crystals. This gypsum is in
superb condition, especially considering the softness
(Mohs hardness 2) of this mineral. The locality is better
known for stibnite and cinnabar; gypsum (especially of
this quality) is unusual. Of the 65 mineral
specimen photos hosted at Mindat for the locality,
none include gypsum. Accompanied by a previous dealer
label with a $125 price.
