This specimen is composed of sparkling, dark red black, massive to crystalline manganvesuvianite intergrown with an unidentified white mineral (barite?). The prismatic manganvesuvianite crystals are generally opaque and not terminated, and reach about 3 mm in length. Probably from the N'chwaning II Mine, which is the type locality for this species. Manganvesuvianite - Ca19Mn3+Al10Mg2(SiO4)10(Si2O7)4O(OH)9 is the analog of vesuvianite - Ca19Fe3+Al10Mg2(SiO4)10(Si2O7)4O(OH)9 in which Fe3+ has been replaced by Mn3+. Typical for the species/locality.
