00816: Gypsum variety Selenite - $24 Lake Gilles Gypsum Deposit, Corunna Station, Iron Knob, Middleback Range, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia Cabinet - 11.5 x 3.4 x 3.1 cm 144 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A large, doubly terminated gypsum
crystal. Nicely transparent, clearly revealing a brown mud
core. The locality is noted for producing odd gypsum
twins; this one looking like someone grabbed opposite
terminations and twisted. Excellent condition, especially
considering gypsum's softness (Mohs 2) and ease of
cleaving. I purchased this specimen from The Arkenstone
in 2000; the corresponding label accompanies the specimen.
