42983: Microcline, Tourmaline and
Lepidolite - $22 San Diego County, California Cabinet - 10.5 x 5.8 x 5.4 cm 394 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A large and blocky 'bonespar'
microcline crystal, associated with minor lavender
lepidolite and tiny tourmalines. Called 'bonespar' due to
its resemblance to bone marrow; probably formed as a
result of some other mineral (albite?) exsolution during
crystallization from the pegmatic fluids. Probably from
the Himalaya Mine
or (less likely) the adjacent San Diego Mine.
Complete all around; a floater. A great example of the
species and the 'bonespar' variety.
