A mound of colorless to pale rusty brown barite blades sits atop but mostly separated from the rock matrix. It is unclear if the barite was deposited directly on the rock then selectively etched, or (more likely) the rock was first covered with some other material (mud, soft barite, etc.), the extant barite was deposited atop this layer, then the now-intermediate layer was etched away. Regardless of its original, the void hosts moderately abundant, thin, orange wulfenite crystals. While the barite/wulfenite association from this locality is well know, I find this particular arrangement to be rather unusual. Some minor edge wear to the barite. Displays nicely, if you think of this mostly as a barite specimen.
