classic gypsum locality, noted for large (to huge)
crystals and a range of gypsum colors are morphologies.
This Naica example
features two glossy and transparent, light brown (iron
hydroxide/oxide inclusions) sharply-terminated
'swords' protruding from a flat cluster of abundant, much
smaller crystals. The longest sword measures 8.1 cm. The
specimen is mounted on an acrylic plate base from which is
could probably be removed if desired, but this plate not
only serves as a display base but also lends support and
protection against handling damage. The specimen is in
superb condition.
