41588: Smoky Quartz Scepter - $16 Crystal Tips pits, Petersen Mountain, Hallelujah Junction area, Washoe County, Nevada Miniature - 4.9 x 3.4 x 3.0 cm 46 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A translucent, lightly smoky quartz
scepter with an offset stem. The 'head' has two distinct
terminations, both in superb conditions. The 'shaft' would
normally point 180 degrees away from the terminations, but
in this case, the shaft has been 'bent' to about 120
degrees. This is obviously not a very bad repair job but
instead may have been formed by overgrowth of a 'normal'
scepter, perhaps after natural detachment from matrix.
This idea is supported by the broken stem base, which has
some regrowth evident. Minor secondary quartz growth
appears scattered about the head. Something a little
different from this classic quartz scepter locality.
