The majority of this specimen is translucent to opaque, massive to crystalline grey gypsum with a knob of brown, earthy limonite along one edge. Gypsum specimens from this locality are uncommon; of the 8586 Tsumeb Mine mineral specimen photos at Mindat, only eight are included in Mindat's Tsumeb Mine mineral list. Despite gypsum's softness and propensity to bruise, bend and cleave, this sample is in remarkably nice condition.
