The matrix of this specimen is light brown, translucent and crystalline trona. Upon this matrix grew two halite crystals, with distinct hoppered growth, with the larger group measuring 2.6 cm. These halites were subsequently (and faithfully) replaced with trona, resulting in the specimen you see here. Modest fluorescence under both longwave and shortwave UV. Trona tends to absorb atmospheric moisture and disintegrate in humid environments (but is stable when humidity is low), so the specimen must be stored accordingly.
